Dry eye is a condition that can affect your tear film and the layers that cover and protect the eyes. In this condition eyes don't produce enough tears or if produce they evaporates quickly. Tears is helpful in maintaining eyes clean and decrease the risk of developing an eye infection. With adequate tears eyes may produce a symptom such as stinging,burning,blurry vision,itching and sensitivity to light.

AYURVEDIC APPROACH OF DRY EYE SYNDROME:

In Ayurveda it is correlated with the shushkakshipaka which is characterized by excessive dryness of eye, in which vitiation of vata and pitta dosha .

VATA dominant variation of eye: The external layer of the tear film is mainly affected . It is lipid layer caused by glands of eyelid. Rough and foreign body sensation of eye are the symptoms produces in vata dominant.

PITTA dominant of eye: It affects the second layer of tear film.This layer is enriched by the rear tear fluid. Burning sensation, watering from eye and excessive dryness are the symptoms of pitta dominant.

KAPHA dominant of eye: It affects the innermost layer of eyeball which protects the cornea from infection. Mucus layer is secreated by sebaceous gland of eyelid.Heaviness, thick secretions and redness are the symptoms of Kapha dominant eye.

1. Nerve Up Tablet
